"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out."
I read somewhere that life is nothing but a mere cycle of putting input and hoping to get the equal magnitude of results. You may not get them every time, but hard work is never in vain. It will give you something or the other.
The most profound yet simple of quotes from William Shakespeare “To be, or not to be” is very open to interpretation. I think it means that we agree in constant war with ourselves, that to exist is out of our control but whether to live or not. If you decide “to be”, you cannot do it half - heartedly.
1. Always knowing the possibilities
The first step to achieve anything is to recognizing that there is something to be achieved. If you don’t know what possibilities lie ahead then how will you make them a reality? Always having an idea of where a road can lead to gives you the upper hand in any situation. Once you know what your options are you can choose to pick one and working towards it.
2. Willingness to work for it
Nothing worth having comes easy. If you are sure of what you want, you should be able to put in the effort to make it possible. Because if you really want something you stop for anyone or anything until you get it. It’s as simple as that.
It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer. --Albert Einstein
3. Just do it
As important as contemplation and gauging what will happen next is, sifting and overthinking a scenario has never done anyone ever good. Have you ever seen a statue of a famous leader on the streets? That statue isn’t there because that person thought of doing something, its there because they did something. As soon as you take action, it triumphs fear.
4. Success and achievement takes time
“There is no telling how many miles you will have to run while chasing a dream.” – Unknown.
When you know where you want to go, it is only a matter of time before your steps in the right direction will carry you there.
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. -Thomas Edison
5. Know how to take a hit
“What we do not see, what most of us never suspect of existing, is the silent but irresistible power which comes to the rescue of those who fight on in the face of discouragement.” – Napoleon Hill
The one thing all great men have in common is the inability to give up. Remember this.
“The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail.” – Napoleon Hill
6. Don’t shy away from giving it your all
If you truly want to achieve a goal you will not have second thoughts before giving it your everything.
“There’s only one way to succeed in anything, and that is to give it everything.” – Vincent Lombardi
7. Learn how to stop yourself from giving in to fear
Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. – John Wooden
If you keep pondering what negative aspects might come out when / if you do something, you will never be able to achieve the positive aspects that are much more likely go happen if you try.
8. Hard work is irreplaceable
There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs. Hard work is something that does not have alternatives and therefore if you plan on reaching somewhere you will have to work hard.
“I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have“ – Thomas Jefferson
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out” – Robert Collier
9. Excuses will get you nowhere
Destiny is for losers. It’s an excuse for letting things happen to you instead of making them happen.
“Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein” – H. Jackson Brown Jr.
10. Resilience is the key
It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop. -Confucius
The road to success is not an easy one. It will not give you exactly what you want and you will fail many times before you can amount go anything. If you don’t swim, you’ll drown. On instances you will sink to the bottom but the ability to get to the top again is what will be the reason to your achievements one day. Things are never as bad as you think they are. Remember this, take note and move forward because success is the ability to move from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.
“I don’t measure a man’s success by how high he climbs, but how high he bounces when he hits the bottom” – George S. Patton
